Booking and trips

How do I book a charter?

Send Ian your preferred date, trip length and group size through the request page, or call or text (843) 368-0170. It is a request that holds your time while Ian confirms.

What time do trips leave?

There is no single fixed departure time. Available time options are provided when you book, after you choose your date.

How long are the trips, and what do they cost?

Private trips run 3 to 8 hours, from $625 to $1,700 on the 32-foot Regulator. See the full list on trips and rates.

What happens after I request a trip?

Your requested time is held while Ian reviews it. He follows up to finalize the plan and confirm, or to suggest another time if needed.

Can I book a corporate or group outing?

Yes, for up to six guests. See corporate outings.

On the boat

How many people can go?

Up to six guests. Every charter is private.

Is there a bathroom on board?

Yes, there is an onboard head.

Is there shade?

Yes, the boat has generous shade and comfortable seating.

Is fishing equipment included?

Yes. Ian supplies all the rods, reels, tackle and gear.

Do I need to buy a fishing license before my Southern Hook charter?

No. Guests fishing aboard Southern Hook do not need to separately purchase the Sea Pines fishing permit or their own individual SCDNR saltwater license for the charter. Planning to fish on your own too? See the fishing license guide.

Can I bring food, drinks and alcohol?

Yes to all three. Bring whatever food and drinks you would like for the trip.

Do you offer shark fishing?

Yes, and it is a favorite. See shark fishing.

Do you fish offshore?

Yes. We fish offshore as well as nearshore.

Do you fish wrecks, troll and bottom fish?

Yes. We do wreck fishing, trolling and bottom fishing, depending on the day.

Do you operate year-round?

Yes. We fish every season, and the target species change through the year. See seasonal fishing.

What fish will we catch?

It depends on the season and conditions, and no trip can guarantee a specific fish. See fish we catch for the local mix.

Getting there

Where do trips leave from?

From Harbour Town Yacht Basin, 160 Lighthouse Road, Hilton Head Island, SC, inside The Sea Pines Resort.

Where do I park?

Public parking at Harbour Town. See directions for maps and where to meet Captain Ian.

Is Southern Hook family-friendly?

Very. See family fishing. For young children, contact Ian and he will help you choose the right trip.

What can my family do in Harbour Town while we fish?
